I am a seascape painter and potter living on the Isle of Mull. My main source of inspiration comes from the changing weather and its effect on the local seascapes. I work using oils on canvas, mainly with palette knives and thick buttery paint mixed with beeswax to add a rich satin texture.

As my studio faces out to the sea on the West Coast of Mull I am able to study the cloud formations and wave patterns approaching the island throughout the course of the year. I use photography to investigate the changing nature of clouds as they move across the sky and it is this sense of movement that I aim to capture in my work.

The habitat on Mull provides a rich variety of contrasting locations for painting including white sandy beaches, rugged coastlines, lochs, mountains and rivers. These combined with the dramatic skies so often seen on the island provide a wealth of source material for my work.
